Get creative at The Du with Abeni Pierson in a hands-on workshop exploring the beautiful and versatile art of gourd decorating!
Discover the history and cultural significance of gourds, including how they are grown and their traditional uses across cultures. Participants will learn how to prepare gourds for decorating before exploring artistic techniques such as decoupage, engraving, and gold leaf appliqué.
With guided demonstrations and hands-on instruction, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different designs and create a unique ornament that reflects their personal style. Safety equipment and instructions will be provided for working with engraving tools.
Each participant will leave with a beautifully decorated gourd ornament and newfound appreciation for this traditional art form.
