Danielle Ponder

Danielle Ponder is stepping fully into her power. The Rochester-born, Atlanta-rooted singer-songwriter brings a commanding blend of soul, R&B, blues, gospel, and powerful storytelling to El Club Detroit.

After spending years balancing music with a career in criminal justice reform law, Ponder made the life-changing decision at 39 to leave the legal profession and pursue music full-time. The leap paid off. Her acclaimed debut album, Some of Us Are Brave, introduced one of soul music’s most compelling voices, earning critical acclaim, major sync placements, and sold-out shows across North America and Europe.

Now, Everything Has Changed marks a new chapter. Her sophomore album and Dead Oceans debut explores transformation, self-acceptance, identity, and what happens when you stop waiting for a future version of yourself. From the empowering “Power” to the soulful “Sun and Moon,” towering blues ballad “God of You,” and vulnerable “Open Windows,” Ponder delivers music that is deeply personal and impossible to ignore.

With performances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Afropunk, and Montreux Jazz Festival, plus appearances including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ponder has proven that her voice belongs on the biggest stages.

For fans of: soul, R&B, blues, gospel, powerful vocals, and emotionally charged songwriting.
