Award-winning bluegrass quartet Mountain Grass Unit brings their electrifying live show to El Club for a night of modern bluegrass, jamgrass improvisation, and world-class musicianship.
Formed in Birmingham, Alabama, Mountain Grass Unit has quickly become one of the most exciting rising acts in roots music. Built around the longtime musical bond of Drury Anderson, Luke Black, Sam Wilson, and Josiah Nelson, the band blends bluegrass tradition with adventurous songwriting, high-energy performances, and improvisational jams that keep audiences coming back for more.
Fresh off winning IBMA Momentum Band of the Year and selling out more than 30 shows, Mountain Grass Unit continues its rapid ascent with the release of its debut album, Appalachian Smoke, produced by six-time Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Phish). The album captures the spirit of the band’s live performances while expanding their sound with influences spanning bluegrass, Americana, and jam-band culture.
With major festival appearances at Bonnaroo and Railbird, a Grand Ole Opry debut on the horizon, and a growing national following, Mountain Grass Unit is carrying bluegrass into a new era. Fans of Billy Strings, Greensky Bluegrass, and contemporary American roots music won’t want to miss one of bluegrass’s fastest-rising young bands live in Detroit.
