Founded by Antonis Benakis in the family mansion opposite the National Garden, the museum presents Greek art and culture from prehistory to the twentieth century. It also runs the Museum of Islamic Art, the Ghika Gallery and the Pireos 138 building, which hosts major temporary exhibitions.
