Bulgaria's largest history museum, housed since 2000 in the former government residence in Boyana at the foot of Vitosha. Its permanent galleries trace the Bulgarian lands from prehistory to the twentieth century, with Thracian treasures, medieval art and objects from the National Revival, alongside temporary exhibitions.
