Natasha Lowe

This performance launches the debut album from Melbourne-born saxophonist and composer Natasha Lowe, a recent graduate from the Jazz & Improvisation degree at the University of Melbourne.‘Flights’ is a personal expression of Natasha’s experiences throughout 2025, detailing her journey as an emerging composer and improviser, discovering how to express herself and create original music, establishing a personal voice through musical storytelling. The album embraces the notion that growth and learning are reached through an acceptance of discomfort, the overarching theme of the album. The music draws inspiration from both Australian and New York-based artists, such as Finn Rees, Lena Douglas, and Joshua Redman.

The creation of ‘Flights’ was supported through Grant! A competition run by the Jazz & Improvisation department at the University of Melbourne. Recorded in the Brian Brown studio in early 2026, Natasha credits her mentors and friends for bringing this album to life.

‘Flights’ features a combination of ensembles, comprising alumni, recent graduates and current students from the University of Melbourne. The album is available from 10th December at https://natashalowe.bandcamp.com
