Leave Room for Jesus is a hilarious, irreverent, and occasionally uncomfortably familiar exploration of evangelical Christianity, sexual repression, and the lengths we go to in the name of being good.
Join evangelical pastor Marla Hope as she guides audiences through the complicated world of Christian morality, relationships, and the ever-present threat of temptation. From the importance of Acting Above Reproach to the sacred truth that Marriage Takes Three, Marla is here to help you navigate life's biggest challenges with faith, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to keeping Jesus at the center of absolutely everything.
Completely improvised from start to finish, Leave Room for Jesus blends character comedy, original songs made up on the spot, satire, and audience interaction into a one-of-a-kind musical experience. No script, no rehearsed songs, and absolutely no telling what the Lord has planned. Every performance is a unique exploration of purity culture and the religious expectations placed on our bodies, relationships, and desires.
Whether you grew up in the church, escaped the church, still attend every Sunday, or have absolutely no idea what a purity ring is, there's something in this show for you.
Leave Room for Jesus is created and performed by Hannah Wydeven, a Minneapolis-based improviser, comedian, and performer. Hannah has been performing and teaching improv in the Twin Cities since 2009.
In Leave Room for Jesus, Hannah brings Pastor Marla Hope to life with all the confidence, conviction, and questionable advice of a woman who knows exactly what God wants for you.
Tickets are $15 in Advance / $18 at the Door. Doors open at 6pm. Online ticket sales end at 5pm.
Our full restaurant and bar service is available in the theater! Order from your seat and enjoy the show, we'll take care of the rest.
