Age can mean many things: a number, a marker of time, and a record of the experiences that shape us. As we grow older, we may gain a deeper understanding of our identities and what we want from life. Yet age can also bring judgment, expectations, and discrimination, influencing how others see us and how we see ourselves.
MOCA Queer StoryJAM returns for an intimate and powerful gathering that amplifies the voices of queer Asian Americans through storytelling. This time, we explore AGE: how we grow, change, and come to know ourselves, and how age shapes our experiences of being queer.
Through personal narratives, LGBTQ+ Asian American storytellers will reflect on growing up, coming out, changing relationships, intergenerational experiences, aging, and the expectations that accompany different stages of life. Following the featured stories, audience members will be invited to share their own. Join us for an evening of storytelling, reflection, and connection as we consider who we have been, who we are, and who we are still becoming.
Event presented by Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA). HowDidIMissThat.com is an independent listing and does not organize this event.
