Thomas Charles Clukey’s road to songwriting took shape through classic country and oldies radio while doing farm chores in St. Albans, Maine. After studying music education at the University of Southern Maine, he stepped away from the classroom, spending years working as a welder, and in manufacturing before finding his roots again in music.
Over the past three years, that focus has yielded steady regional momentum. A 2026 Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship (LEAF) Fellow at One Longfellow Square, Clukey is a winner of the 2025 Maine Songwriters Association Contest and a two-time consecutive finalist at the historic Rose Garden Coffeehouse Performing Songwriter Contest in Massachusetts. With additional songwriting wins at Brooklyn’s Wildwood Studio and The Studio Portland, he is preparing release of his debut EP with Boston’s Plaid Dog Recording and Maine’s Frog Hollow Studio.
For this special One Longfellow show, Clukey takes the stage backed by a premier lineup of veteran Maine players: the fiery fretwork of guitarist Rob Coffin, a locked-in rhythm section featuring bassist Mike Burd and drummer Mike Auger, and the rich keys and vocal harmonies of William Sawyer. Together, the band expands Clukey’s acoustic material into a dynamic, room-filling set that brings each song to life!
