This presentation, based on the new book Transportation and the Shape of Cities, offers a framework for approaching transportation design, with examples from all the urban modes of transportation (pedestrians, micromobility, cars, trains, and transit) and a grounding in geometry, role, networks, and urban design. It is grounded in inclusivity, with plain language, clear and concise presenting, and graphics which are aimed to help all kinds of learners understand complex ideas. It is designed to empower all to help to create better cities.
The event will start with a presentation from the authors, followed by a panel conversation moderated by Kirk Hovenkotter, and an audience Q&A.
Transportation matters because it shapes all of our lives. We can make transportation networks better through thoughtful design, informed policy, and inclusive conversations. Transportation and the Shape of Cities is designed to help professionals to do that in whatever role they are in.
