Cale Fladager’s Wisła Ensemble, Polish Jazz, Modern Jazz
The Wisła Ensemble is a jazz and improvised music group dedicated to presenting the unique tradition of Polish Jazz music. Spending his teenage years growing up in Warsaw, Cale Fladager developed a deep interest in the jazz and improvised music of his home. Now with his ensemble, named after the mighty Wisła river that flows through Poland, Cale is bringing the Polish jazz tradition to Canada, alongside Lauchlin Wood (saxophone), Bryn Robin (piano), Fiona Varty (bass), and Jack Stockill (drums). The Wisła Ensemble performs music from all across the history of Polish Jazz, including the music of old Warsaw, of iconic Polish Jazz musicians such as Krzysztof Komeda, and original works drawing from the Polish tradition.
