The inaugural Immersion Festival is a celebration of Black Canadian choreography and the rich traditions of African Diasporic dance.
Over two dynamic weeks, audiences can experience captivating performances, engaging workshops, and vibrant community gatherings while connecting with a national and international network of artists, scholars, educators, presenters, and producers dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and advancing African Diasporic dance.
Festival highlights include:
3 dynamic stage presentations featuring acclaimed Black Canadian dance artists and exceptional Black-led youth groups from across Canada.
12 movement workshops for professional dancers, emerging artists, youth, and community members, led by some of Canada’s leading Black dance artists.
3 community gathering events offering opportunities to network, build meaningful connections, and celebrate the creativity and impact of Black dance.
Join us November 8–22, 2026, at the Betty Oliphant Theatre in Toronto for the first-ever Immersion Festival—an unforgettable celebration of artistry, culture, and community.
