About Marc-André Hamelin
Pianist and composer Marc-André Hamelin is renowned worldwide for his consummate musicianship and extraordinary command of the piano. Described by The New York Times as a “performer of near-superhuman technical prowess,” he is equally celebrated for his interpretations of the great works of the repertoire and his intrepid exploration of lesser-known music of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. He appears regularly with leading orchestras and conductors and in recital at major concert halls and festivals throughout the world.
An exclusive recording artist for Hyperion Records, Hamelin has made more than 90 recordings spanning solo, orchestral, and chamber repertoire. His extensive discography has earned numerous international honors, including eight Juno Awards, 11 Grammy nominations, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the German Record Critics’ Association.
Also a noted composer, Hamelin has written more than 30 works, many published by Edition Peters. His music reflects the same curiosity, imagination, and virtuosity that distinguish his performances.
