The opera house on Große Theaterstraße in the Neustadt, home of the State Opera, the Philharmonic State Orchestra and the Hamburg Ballet. Its main house alternates repertoire operas from Verdi to Wagner, new productions and the great narrative ballets, while the small opera stabile stage presents chamber opera and shows for young audiences. Around Christmas the Nutcracker and family operas traditionally fill the schedule.
