京都国立博物館
Dou Guo Li Bo Wu Guan東山区茶屋町527, Kyoto 605-093
A national museum opened in 1897 on Shichijo-dori opposite Sanjusangen-do, combining a Meiji red-brick hall with Yoshio Taniguchi's Heisei Chishinkan wing. It shows Buddhist sculpture, painting, calligraphy and crafts from Kyoto's temples and shrines in rotating collection galleries and major special exhibitions.
