On the very site where the Lumière brothers filmed workers leaving their factory, in Monplaisir, the Institut combines a cinematheque, the Lumière museum in the family villa and the Hangar du Premier-Film screening room. Retrospectives, silent films with live music and film lectures run all year. Every October it hosts the Lumière festival of classic cinema.
