The national museum of contemporary art on Nakanoshima, whose galleries lie entirely underground beneath a silver, reed-like entrance designed by César Pelli. It collects Japanese and international art from 1945 onward and runs special exhibitions alongside rotating collection shows; its basement auditorium hosts the Nakanoshima film series and occasional concerts.
