Venue website (opens in a new tab)The prefectural art museum, set among the greenery of Kawauchi just west of the Hirose River in a building by Kunio Maekawa. Its collection covers modern Japanese art, artists linked to Tohoku, foreign works including Kandinsky, and more than 10,000 picture-book illustrations. A wing devoted to Miyagi-born sculptor Churyo Sato and a new open storage gallery complete the visit.
