A municipal arts centre opened in 2007, three minutes from the north exit of Shin-Yurigaoka Station. The Alterio small theatre (about 200 seats) stages community theatre, a regular jazz series and dance, while the 113-seat Alterio cinema shows art-house releases and classics, with director talks and a yearly film festival.
