The Secession, with its golden leaf dome near Karlsplatz, was founded in 1897 by artists around Gustav Klimt and is still run by artists. It shows three simultaneous exhibitions of international contemporary art, while Klimt’s Beethoven Frieze is on permanent display downstairs.
