The American Theatre is a historic downtown Hampton house, run by Hampton Arts, that dates to 1908. It programs touring music, a classic movie series, a Black-theatre series and Hampton Roads Philharmonic concerts, with the Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center nearby for gallery evenings.
